A man stabbed with his own knife in a West Village subway station died in a clash with two brothers he attacked for giving him a “dirty look”, police sources told the Daily News on Monday.
The brothers, ages 20 and 24, had just exited a No. 1 train at the 14th-St.-Seventh Ave. subway station about 7 p.m. on Saturday when they were confronted by the victim, who believed one or both of the brothers had given him a dirty look, the sources said.
The victim pulled out a knife and slashed the younger brother in the right armpit and groin. The three then started wrestling and during the scuffle, the older brother grabbed the knife from the victim and stabbed him in the chest, sources said.
Medics transported the victim to to Bellevue Hospital, where he died about 50 minutes later. Cops have not released his name or age.
The younger brother was taken to the same hospital to be treated for the slash wound and was in stable condition.
The brothers were both taken in for questioning at the scene.
On Monday night, the older brother, Brandon Gonzalez, was arraigned in Manhattan Criminal Court, and charged with manslaughter.
Judge John Zhou Wang ordered that he be held on $10,000 cash bail or $20,000 bond, along with a 9 p.m. curfew, and ankle electronic monitoring. He was also ordered to remain in New York City and surrender his passport. His next appearance in court was set for Sept. 9.
His lawyer Geoffrey Stewart said the Queens resident will make bail Monday night.
The younger brother, who had been wounded by the dead man is not facing potential charges, the sources said.
