A “well-loved” first grade teacher was fatally shot in the head inside her Bronx home with her mom, who uses a wheelchair, hearing the fatal shot from the apartment below, police said Wednesday.
Cops are now looking to question the 35-year-old boyfriend of Jessica Hoyle, 31, for the Tuesday night shooting. Hoyle was a teacher at Children’s Aid College Prep Charter School in Crotona, a devastated colleague told the Daily News.
“It’s a terrible tragedy,” said the colleague, who asked to remain anonymous. “She was well-loved and she will be missed.”
Hoyle was shot inside her home on Mickle Ave. near Boston Road about 11 p.m., cops said. Her mother, who lives downstairs, heard the shot and called 911 but couldn’t get to the upstairs apartment in her wheelchair.
The mother told police Hoyle and her boyfriend had been arguing all day before a shot rang out.
When cops arrived they found Hoyle dead from a gunshot wound to the head.
Her killer had fled. Her boyfriend’s car, a grey Nissan Maxima, was still at the scene, police sources said.
No arrests have been made.
