Man’s body found hog tied, likely murdered, off Queens expressway

A man’s decomposing body was found hog-tied off a Queens expressway Tuesday morning, police sources said.

The grisly discovery was made just before 9 a.m. in the weeds off a section of the Clearview Expressway near Union Turnpike that cuts through Cunningham Park.

It’s suspected that the victim had been shot, according to a police source. A second police source described the death as “suspicious.”

A driver with mechanical trouble on the northbound side of the expressway discovered the body after he pulled over on the side of the road just before Exit 2, cops said.

The body was badly decomposed but cops found the man’s hands and feet were bound together, a police source said.

Police on Tuesday had set up a blue tent on the shoulder of the Clearview Expressway to protect the remains and other evidence from the elements.

Men in hazmat suits were going into the tent with hazmat bags while NYPD detectives waited outside. An NYPD Crime Scene Unit truck was parked outside the tent.

A couple walking by a footbridge above the highway was stunned by the macabre scene.

“I just came from the highway. I see a lot of police,” said the 73-year-old man, who wished not to be named as he and his wife looked over the scene. “Maybe they shot him in different place and they brought him here,”

“It’s scary to think about it,” his 69-year-old wife said. “I know people walking their dogs early in the morning, they go through the woods.”

The neighborhoods around the Clearview Expressway, which include Hollis Hills where the couple lives, are relatively quiet, she said.

“At nighttime sometimes we hear gunshots, but you don’t know what’s happening,” she said. “Sometimes it’s the firecrackers, so we don’t know how to put it. We are two old people living here.”

Cops had blocked off the right-hand lane of the expressway approaching the grim scene.

Cops are awaiting the results of an autopsy to learn exactly how the man died as they work to identify him.
